Kitchen Shifts (in-person)
Recruitment for kitchen volunteers is typically at the beginning of each semester. All new volunteers must complete the intake form and orientation. Kitchen shifts are typically 2-hours long on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 10am and 3pm (occasionally a little later for special events) at the SSMU building. Due to limited kitchen space, we usually have 2-3 volunteers per shift.
Typical tasks: unloading groceries; processing, organizing and preserving ingredients; meal preparation; packing and distributing meals; cleaning.
Status: Volunteer recruitment closed for winter 2024
Garden Shifts (in-person)
Garden shifts are drop-ins and will vary from week to week. Please check the calendar for garden shifts. No training is required. Visit our gardening page for more info.
Typical tasks: weeding; watering; pruning; treating plant ailments; harvesting
Status: returning may 2024
Outreach committee (in-person)
